You are not scrumming; Are you?
Scrums are a vital tool in the Agile scrum methodology, a tool to let you have visibility in shorter time frames if you are achieving what you had set as a goal..
- Scrums are not status updates: So don’t give and take status updates. Make it a conversation to reveal where you stand in achieving scrum goals and what is keeping you from it.
- Scrums are not speeches: So let the Team have a word.
- Scrums are not push the car to reach the destination: Steer it, allow and guide people to reach the scrum goals.
- Scrums are not abstract: They need to be detailed, don’t generalize what you say. Be specific, Bug/CR number, Class, Blocker event, person who needs to help you out etc.
- Scrums are not roadways: They are rail tracks, so let your scrum run on track.
- Scrums are not for the sake of it: They are for a purpose, the purpose been; How we are fairing and what is stopping us from reaching there.
- Scrums are not for everyone: They are for teams that are helping achieve the scrum goals; if you are not working towards those goals, you are everyone.
- Scrums are not for repetition: If you have same thing said / heard more than twice in the scrum; YOU are off track.
Yes absolutely scrums are: What you worked on; what you will
work on and what is blocking you; But beyond that scrums are a platform to
focus on that last part and find steering answers to be jubilant.
